Locally

Lyneal is close to Colemere Lake which has a short circular walk, grassy bank and picnic area.

A more challenging walk extends along the Shropshire Union Canal into Ellesmere and back.

Lyneal has links with the Lyneal Trust (link below) based at Lyneal Wharf which operates The Shropshire Lass, the Shropshire Maid and now the Shropshire Lady: especially designed narrow boat for day trips. Why not divide your group into two and one walk into Ellesmere, while the other travels on the narrow boat – then swap over!

Other ideas for activities use external companies with diverse activities such as kayaking, sailing and paddleboarding. Ellesmere hosts the Shropshire Wildlife Trust: the heron watch is always interesting in spring and summer. Wood Lane Nature Reserve is also very close. Colemere itself is a beautiful area at any time of year, however it’s not far to Natural England Marches Mosses: a unique area of natural beauty and wildlife (Link below).
